Frequently asked questions

Loose Parts is a furniture system made up of hardwood rails, metal  panels and steel fasteners designed to adapt to changing needs and environments. Based on an open source and intuitive building system, the invitation to assemble, disassemble and reassemble is at the core of what we offer, with the goal of ultimately reducing furniture landfill waste, encouraging reuse, and inspiring individual acts of agency.

Not at all. In fact many of our customers tell us they forget to consult the assembly instructions because putting it together feels like a familiar toy they used to play with.

Nope. With every order we include the only tool you need, a #4 hex key. In fact, you might even have a few already knocking around in the back of a drawer.

Loose Parts is designed and manufactured in Los Angeles California. We like to keep things local, so we work with suppliers in Oregon to source our metal products, California to source our packaging and urban wood and North Carolina to source raw timber.

Yes! We love working with clients on custom orders. Just fill out the form on our contact page telling us a little more about what you're looking for and we'll get back to you with next steps.

It's not recommended. Prolonged exposure to the elements can cause corrosion and some cosmetic wear and tear to the rails and hardware. However, that isn't to say we haven't taken our furniture outside for a summer picnic.

Just remember Loose Parts is primarily made of wood and wood is a living dynamic material. It could fade is some places and experience some warpage, it really depends where you are and how long the piece is left outside.

Yes! We love doing that. As a rule, maple rails comes with white hardware and black oak comes with black hardware.

If you'd like to see something different just let us know when you check out.
